Printer Cartridges - Various Types and Their Features

One of the most crucial and important office machines is the printer! Whether you are a clerk, an assistant, a manager or a secretary, one thing which is indispensable to your survival are "print outs". All of us probably know the in and out of a printer more than even our work because we are perpetually relying on various prints, print outs, sheets, scanned documents etc for any kind of work or communication. Imagine a situation where you have a presentation and need to give 10 handouts to attendees. Imagine, now, if the printer conks off! I am sure your presentation will fail to communicate what it was supposed to because you were so dependent on those handouts! Not just office, even educational institutes, libraries etc are very dependent on this miracle machine.

But this miracle machine needs to be taken care of. It functions on the most important part - printer cartridge. If the cartridge in the printer is functioning properly, print outs will be of excellent quality. Depending on your usage and type of work, there are mainly three types of cartridges available in the market:

1 OEM - stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. One of the first cartridges in the market. They are usually produced by printer manufacturers. These toner cartridges are of high quality and hence sometimes expensive. They carry manufacturer labels

2 COMPATIBLE- specially manufactured to meet certain requirements not fulfilled by OEM. They are manufactured by third parties because they are more customized. Hence, manufacturer label is not there. They are usually less expensive than OEM. If the cartridge is 100% compatible cartridge, then it can fit into any printer. But if it is not 100 % compatible, the cartridge and the printer won't recognize each other and there might be issues in the print quality. Compatible ink cartridges are usually made to orders only and use both used and new components if otherwise specified

3 REMANUFACTURED - they are also refurbished cartridges. They are OEM or third party manufacturer inkjet and toner cartridges which have being through one cycle of service already and have being re charged. Every re manufactured cartridge needs to be properly cleaned, worn out components replaced, then it is filled with ink formula and it is thoroughly tested. They are more expensive than compatible ones but cheaper than OEM. It is environment friendly product and cost effective. Hence, very popular amongst companies who are eco friendly

Selecting a printer and then printer cartridges at regular intervals needs some care. It depends on your usage, type of establishment, budget, quality needed etc. it is advisable to consult a specialist and discuss with him various cost effective options available.
